Money Ball Heading To Soccer?

According to our friends at mlbtraderumors.com, Billy Beane may be taking his Moneyball philosophy to Soccer (or as the rest of the world calls it, football) in 2009.

Come to find out, Oakland Athletics owner Lewis Wolf also owns the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS.

I’m not sure how easy a comparative analysis is coming from a sport such as baseball where you use almost all your body parts, to one where except for the goalie, players only use their legs, feet, and sometimes their cranial casing.

I’m sure the categories for soccer include running for average, on field kicking percentage, pseudo injuries per quarter, and fights in stands per game.

Beane going from MLB to MLS is a little like Bill Gates going from Microsoft to the Play-Doh company.

Let me hear from you soccer nation. That is, if your Mom will let you use her dialup connection.
